ICHV has been working to prevent gun violence for 40 years, growing from the inspiration of four suburban Chicago women who wanted to stop deadly gun violence.  The organization continues to grow each year with dedicated individuals who embrace our mission. Volunteer today so help save lives.

We invite you to join with us as we fight for common sense solutions that save lives.

Here are just some of the ways to get involved:

  • Sign up to help with one of ICHV’s events.
  • Help us with projects: volunteering may include: research, letters to the editor, speaking opportunities, or just assisting with day to day activities at the ICHV office.

For more information about volunteer opportunities, please call us at 312-243-ICHV (4248) or email: [email protected].

Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence

The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence (ICHV) is the oldest and largest statewide organization in the U.S. working to prevent the devastation caused by firearms. Founded in 1975 by four suburban Chicago women concerned about the tragic consequences of handgun proliferation and availability, ICHV works on a variety of fronts to educate, raise public awareness, and build coalitions to enact change in laws and behavior. For 40 years, ICHV has been a leader among state gun violence prevention groups.
