History
The HealthCare Coalition (HCC) was formed as a
subsidiary of OnTarget. Launched in 1997,
ICHV developed the HCC to organize the healthcare
community so that they can educate the public about firearm
violence as a public health crisis impacting
everyone, particularly children. Emergency room
physicians, nurses, trauma surgeons, rehabilitation
specialists, emergency medical personnel, occupational
therapists, hospital administrators, and almost anyone
involved in healthcare is acutely aware of the destruction,
cost, and horrors of gun violence.
Functions
The HCC focuses on every aspect of gun violence, including:
homicides, suicides, unintentional shootings and injuries;
the financial and human costs of gun violence; and the
root causes of gun availability and use. Please contact
the ICHV offices for membership materials.
"Today, we are taking a step in the right
direction towards enduring gun violence. Keep making
your voices heard, I know I will."
- Jim Brady
